NEW YORK - With a just-completed launch of two new accounts, the Contract Services division of Restaurant Associates has a busy spring. And with plans to open several other foodservice units over the next few months, it promises to be a busy summer as well.
The more prestigious of RA's new portfolio additions is the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum here, which RA took over March 1. RA will handle concessions and catering at the museum, which is actually aboard the World War II-era aircraft carrier USS Intrepid.
Dick Cattani, president of the contract division, said the company also began cafeteria operations March 24 at Swiss Re, a financial firm that recently relocated its headquarters from Manhattan to Armonk, N.Y.
RA's official kick-off at the Intrepid came March 30, when the museum unveiled its "Flying Machines" exhibition to the media. RA catered the event, with general manager Scott Kalman and catering director Laura Miller tapping the culinary resources of RA's restaurant division.
