The voices of yesterday's CU pioneers can still be heard at Estes Park.
WHEN I FIRST heard the suggestion that the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) observe in midSeptember its 75 years of service to credit unions at the location of its founding- Estes Park, Colo.- I was a bit skeptical.
In fact, the word "corny" ran through my mind at least once.
But I underestimated.
Looking back, it's difficult to express the majesty of the location, the spirit of the moment, and the pride of CUNA's history that came together at the national credit union movement's birthplace.
For that moment- when about 150 leaders of today's movement joined to honor the pioneers who convened in the same spot in 1934 - it was an unforgettable scene, especially when they each shared their perspectives.
