SEE AND BE SCENE
As New York thaws out from winter's freeze, the city's rooftop scene is preparing for the onslaught of industry folk who can't wait to strut their spring fashions - and break out a pack of smokes.These open-air establishments,not surprisingly, have been hotter than ever since the smoking ban went into effect in March 2003.
"We work with so much international talent that the idea of not being able to smoke at a party when they come to town is insane, says Ryan Werner, head of theatrical distribution for Wellspring Pictures.
When Werner, formerly at Palm Pictures, threw a reception for Olivier Assayas"Demonlover" starring Chloe Sevigny and Gina Gershon, he chose the High Bar atop Gramercy Park Hotel: "It has a cool, old-school vibe and people could just casually drink and smoke."
