Caracas, May 7 (EFE).- Venezuela’s president pointed directly to the country’s head of parliament on Thursday for two failed maritime attacks as the opposition leader was silent while one of his top advisers acknowledged the link.
"He is capable of signing a contract to kill his political contender – who does that in the world? Sign a contract with a mercenary to kill his political contender?" Nicolás Maduro said of Juan Guaidó in an interview with state television Telesur.
"He is a criminal. He did it, he prepared my murder," added the president.
Venezuelan authorities thwarted a maritime raid in the state of La Guaira and accused the opposition sector grouped under the figure of Guaidó, the United States and Colombia, for the operation.
On Monday they foiled another raid, this time on the coast of the state of Aragua, about two hours from Caracas.
