There's something musical for everyone this Christmas. Unless you're a jazz fan, that is. Traditionalists can slob out with the Courvoisier for Carols From King's College, Cambridge (BBC2, 5.15pm, Christmas Eve), oblivious to the Spice war raging on other channels. While Behind The Scenes Of SpiceWorld - The Movie breaks out on Channel 5 (5.30pm, Christmas Eve), BBC1 has cunningly secured the services of the gals for the quasi-documentary, Spice Girls On Top Of The Pops (also 5.30pm).
The First Silent Night (BBC2, 6.30pm, Christmas Eve) seeks to trace the origins of Silent Night, apparently the world's most popular carol, but this `musical detective story' is painfully flat-footed with little solid evidence.
Far more nourishing is conductor Mark Wigglesworth's series, Everything To Play For (BBC2, Christmas Eve/ Day/ Boxing Day,...
