Fred the iguana will soon have a new home. A larger cage for Fred is among many improvements planned for the biology laboratory at Central Catholic High School after a woman who wishes to remain anonymous donated about $25,000 to the school.
"She wanted to give something to Central Catholic that would help kids educationally," said Principal Joy Allen. The woman's children attended Central Catholic, Mrs. Allen said, and because she now has grandchildren enrolled, they "will reap some of the benefits (of her generosity)."
The money, which will come from selling shares of the woman's investments, also will be used for a variety of other remodeling projects and equipment updates, Mrs. Allen said.
