A warehouse complex isn't exactly the panacea that Bloomington officials had hoped for in the old west-side railroad yards.
But that's better than letting the weed-infested land sit idle, as it has been since 1985 when the Chicago, Missouri & Western railroad sought bankruptcy.
There has been talk of a housing development or major recreational area on the land, but talk is about as far as those proposals went. There was even some discussion of building a facility for Central Catholic High School on the property. Part of the reason those plans never became too serious is the massive environmental cleanup...
