While Joy Allen eagerly awaits the day she can say goodbye to "The Pit," as Central Catholic High School's cramped gymnasium is affectionately called, she'll leave the 70-year-old high school building with some regret. "There will always be mixed feelings, but it's the people that make the building and we'll take some of the charm with us,"
the Central Catholic principal said Monday as plans were announced to build a new high school at a new location - perhaps in eastern or southeast Bloomington.
While Allen doesn't expect the new school, which could cost up to $7 million and have 82,000 square feet compared to the current 65,500, to have the same charm as the school she's worked in for the past seven years, school officials have determined that...
