BLOOMINGTON - There will be no need to open windows on cold, snowy days at the new Central Catholic High School because of steamy conditions inside the building.
Principal Joy Allen also is looking forward to a new key system that will allow her to trade in the giant mass of keys she now carries around.
But spiritually, Allen said, the first mission is to meet the needs of students. The new building, she said, will take CCHS a "huge step" forward.
"It certainly moves them into the 21st century," said project manager Brian Wicklund of Johnston Contractors Inc., the Bloomington- based general contractor for the project that began last year.
Wicklund said the classroom wing is nearly complete, and the building will be ready when staff, students and volunteers begin their move in early August. The first day of classes for students is Aug. 21.
"We've had an aggressive time frame to put it all together," Wicklund said. "All of our subcontractors have been working hard to meet that deadline."
