Former KWTV weatherman Brady Brus soon may end up owning a television station.
Brus heads the Christian Media Group, which has filed for Federal Communications Commission approval to buy the KSBI Television Network.
Brus hopes the purchase is approved by early in 2002.
"The FCC is going through these applications faster than in the past," he said. "It used to take from 90 days to 120 days, now I understand it's between 60 days and 90 days."
This application, though, is a little out of the ordinary.
Besides purchasing the KSBI station from Locke Supply, the deal also is for six translator stations that carry KSBI's signal out of Oklahoma City. They are in Enid, Ponca City, Stillwater, Ada, Sapulpa, Sand Springs and soon, Ardmore.
Other translator stations carrying the national network programming are in Lawton, McAlester, Muskogee, Wichita, and Wichita Falls, Texas.
The network also includes Kxoc-LP, Channel 54 in Oklahoma City.
