A group of investors is seeking to obtain the license of Channel 39, which has been off the air.
Owners of Arizona Charlie's Hotel and other local investors plan to start a full-power, Spanish-language television station in Las Vegas in October.
Their firm, Summit Media Limited Partnership, is seeking Federal Communications Commission approval for the license transfer of KBLR-TV, Channel 39, a local UHF station that's been off the air for about two years.
The partnership has agreed to pay $1.5 million in cash and notes for the transmitter and antenna owned by Rose Development Co. Inc., the current licensee, which is 85 percent owned by Glenn Rose of Danville, Calif.
Scott Gentry, 45, who has 22 years of broadcasting experience, is the president and owner of Summit Media Inc., the general partner of the limited partnership. Since 1988,...
