Joe McMurray has an it-doesn't-worry-me attitude - even though his KNUU-AM 970 news station has competition for the first time since it went on the air in 1977.
Ironically, it was McMurray who put KNUU's competition, KRBO-FM 105.1, on the air in September 1993, when it began as an oldies station. In April of this year, KRBO switched to an all-news format, and McMurray admits he watched the station closely from his perspective at KNUU.
"I was concerned about it, much so in the beginning," McMurray says. "As time goes on, I worry less."
KNUU has a slight ratings lead in all age groups, according to the Arbitron summer survey, although KRBO has narrowed the gap...
