Most Summerlin art enthusiasts are not familiar with the term "happy art." Walking into the new Sally Huss Gallery, located at 1958 Village Center Circle, it is easy to see what happy art is.
"I don't think anyone can walk into this store and not feel better than when they walked in," said Russ Zuardo, owner of the Sally Huss Gallery. "This art is contagious. It appeals to kids and it appeals to adults. It has a certain spiritual side."
The gallery includes the work of famed San Diego artist Sally Huss. Huss, an impressionist known for her ultra-bright work, is a former U.S. junior champion in tennis who was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon in both singles and doubles.
She decided to give up on tennis at age 19 and devote her time to other endeavors including art, but it wasn't until 1980 that Huss turned her full attention to her artwork.
Since she adopted painting as her full-time career, Huss has endeared herself to many of Hollywood's elite who enjoy her happy-go- lucky work. Clint Eastwood, Kirk Douglas and Larry Hagman all have extensive Huss collections.
