Troy Sampson, once charged in three 1996 thrill killings, was sentenced last week to 12 1/2 years in prison for torching a Las Vegas convenience store in 2000.
"Based upon his record, it's good to see that he's going to be off the streets for a while," Deputy District Attorney Christopher Lalli said.
Lalli helped prosecute Tony Amati, also a suspect in the three homicides. Sampson initially was indicted with Amati, but prosecutors later dismissed the murder charges against Sampson because of insufficient evidence.
Jurors convicted Amati of one of the killings but acquitted him of the other two. He is serving a life sentence with possibility of parole for the August 1996 shooting death of Keith Dyer, 22.
