Barry Manilow looks like he made it. Or maybe not. While neither party is confirming it, the New York Post is reporting that Manilow, a hit-making machine in the 1970s, has signed a one-year $60 million contract with the Las Vegas Hilton.
But somebody didn't do their math: The $60 million would be almost double Celine Dion's yearly take from her three-year, $100 million deal in the 4,200-seat Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Manilow, who recently performed at Mandalay Bay at $35 to $40 per ticket, would be performing in a 1,600-seat showroom.
"No way he's getting $200 and $300 tickets, Celine prices. Barbra Streisand, maybe," said a local entertainment guru.
"There's nothing set that I'm aware of," said Manilow's publicist, Carol Marshall, "but I do know that Barry is looking into possible options for future plans, of which Vegas is just one."
