Abstract

Alternate abstract:

Santiago Gamboa establishes in his novel El síndrome de Ulises a narrative structure led by a first-person narrator, who recounts his adventures as a marginal Colombian immigrant in a realistic and unconventional Paris. Within the framework of the novel, an interpolated crime fiction story is incorporated as a key to maintain the reader’s attention. In this article, it is proposed that such a strategy plays at being a narrative resource that evokes a digression in which a textual trend, belonging to the crime fiction, is set up.
