BENGALURU: The hijab row raging in a college in Udupi in southern Karnataka since last month enveloped another institution in the same district on Thursday as 28 students in headscarves were prevented from entering. The Karnataka high court is set to hear on Tuesday two petitions seeking a directive to permit Muslim students wearing headscarves to attend classes.
The incident on Thursday occurred at Bhandarkars' Arts and Science College at Kundapur in Udupi where authorities cited the government's order and college guidelines on students' uniform to keep the girls out. The students said they have been attending classes in headscarves so far without any objection, but the principal did not relent.
