"The Cosby Show" is still the show kids love best. At least, that was the conclusion of the annual Kids' Choice Awards on cable's Nickelodeon that based its honors on a nationwide poll of - who else? - kids.
The furry alien ALF (of NBC's "ALF") was voted TV's best actor, with Alyssa Milano of ABC's "Who's the Boss?" winning as television's best actress. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was the best movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger the best film actor and Whoopi Goldberg the top movie actress.
TWO MORE YEARS: "A Current Affair" host Maury Povich signed a two-year deal with Fox for an estimated price tag: $1.8 million per year.
Povich referred all money questions to his ever-diplomatic wife, CBS Newsie Connie Chung. "She thinks I talk too much," he says, laughing. "She told me, `You tell everyone to call me and I'll talk about it because I know I won't give them anything.' "
Most important, says Povich, was his freedom to pursue outside projects, including a talk show. He has "several possibilities" cooking, both in network and syndication. None involve Chung.
The Fox contract "is everything, and more, than I imagined," says Povich, 50.
