JOHOR BARU, Tues. - The RM266 million Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing will be opened to traffic from 2pm on Jan 2.
It will mark the culmination of eight years of work on the bridge, which links Kampung Ladang at Tanjung Kupang in Johor to Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim at Tuas in Singapore.
Spanning 2km, about 1.7km of the three-lane dual carriageway is over Malaysian waters, with a maximum navigational clearance of 75m in the centre.
The new bridge will have a capacity of 200,000 vehicles a day, which is four times the load on the Causeway.
Besides the bridge, the entire development also includes the Customs and Immigration and Quarantine complex, toll plazas, rest and service areas and other ancillary works.
