ABC's Early Ratings Victories The ABC premieres of John Ritter in "Hooperman" and Dabney Coleman in "Slap Maxwell," and the return of "Dynasty" battered the competition in the ratings Wednesday night. Ritter's 21.5 Nielsen, 35 share, Coleman's 18.2, 31, and "Dynasty's" 16.5, 28 laid out CBS' "The Equalizer," with a 14.4, 20 for its twohour season premiere. During the same two hours, NBC's "A Year in the Life" got 13.8, 23 and "St. Elsewhere" 13.4, 23. For all of Wednesday's prime time, ABC scored 17.6, 30 to NBC's 14.3, 24 and CBS' 13.1, 22.
