Jim and Tammy's High Ratings Ted Koppel's interview with deposed PTL leader Jim Bakker and wife Tammy Faye gave "Nightline" its best Nielsen numbers ever Wednesday night. The show drew a 12-city rating of 15.4 and a 42 share - for an estimated 20 million viewers. The Bakkers' appearance, on the heels of Rev. Jerry Falwell's press conference calling on Bakker to repent, ran 42 minutes over "Nightline's" usual half hour. In the same 12 major markets, ABC's prime-time schedule (8 to 11 p.m.) won the night over CBS and NBC with 14.4, 23 - a full rating point lower than Koppel's Jim and Tammy show. An ABC executive remarked, "We should have put them on in prime time."
