A Posh Diet RegimenFor Slain Contractor Irwin Schiff, the 350-pound contractor who was murdered execution-style at an Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side on Saturday night, used to weigh even more than that. Schiff, who was killed at Bravo Sergio on Second Ave., was a frequent visitor to Palm-Aire, the hotel and spa in Florida that also has been Liz Taylor's favorite weight loss retreat. Winter rates at the spa, for a single, run about $2,700 a week. According to spa sources, Schiff had been successfully following the Palm-Aire regimen. "He had lost some weight with us and was doing it on his own as well," said one staffer at the Pompano spa. "I had certainly seen the difference." (At Bravo Sergio, Schiff had just finished a diet dessert - melon and tea - when he was gunned down.) How did the staff at Palm-Aire feel about the high-roller? "We'll miss him," said our source, "because he treated the staff very well." One former guest at Palm-Aire told us that Schiff, a bachelor whose dining companion the night he was slain was an attractive blonde, frequently was accompanied to the spa by different young women.
