The federal government yesterday awarded $700 million in contracts to BPT Properties L.P. and Linpro New York Realty Inc. for a new federal courthouse - the nation's largest - and a federal office building near Foley Square in lower Manhattan.
Hailed by local politicians as a major job-generating coup for a depressed New York economy, the buildings will help alleviate crowding in the existing buildings. They are scheduled to be completed by December, 1994.
