In creating a new traffic pattern for the Queensboro Bridge, the city has reneged on its promise to keep the bridge accessible to bikers and pedestrians, according to one local advocacy group.
As of yesterday, the city's Department of Transportation closed the bridge's bicycle/pedestrian lane on the south outer roadway from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays to ease congestion. Inconvenienced bikers and pedestrians are transported by van during those hours.
