Mindful of the last bridge debacle, the city's Department of Transportation yesterday cautiously announced new traffic patterns along the Queensboro Bridge to accommodate construction.
Next month, the new patterns, which will affect only the evening rush hour, will increase from five to six the number of Queens-bound lanes, said DOT Commissioner Wilbur Chapman.
There are nine lanes across the two-tier span that connects Manhattan and Queens - four on the top level and five on the bottom. Starting Aug. 3, Queens-bound commuters will use all four upper roadways, and two of the lower ones.
