The city and the Brooklyn Museum of Art yesterday reached a settlement in the city's challenge to the controversial "Sensation" exhibit that bars the mayor from future interference with the museum board or withholding of city funds.
The settlement concluded one of the more rancorous of the many First Amendment battles Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has waged.
"The Museum is extremely pleased with this resolution," said Robert Rubin, chairman of the board. "The events of the past six months have only made our institution stronger and more dedicated to our mission of offering educational, innovative and exciting exhibitions or art."
