Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Incessantly, the pile-driving in the median along the Van Wyck Expressway in southeast Queens can be heard several blocks from its origin.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Neighbors say they have suffered through the noise and resulting vibrations day and night since construction on the rail link from Jamaica to Kennedy Airport began last fall.
"It's been chaotic over here," said Margo Hill, co-chairwoman of Southeast Queens Concerned Neighbors, an organization that represents residents of Jamaica and South Ozone Park.
"We had one instance where one person complained about the stove moving and jumping," said Hill, whose group is one of two that filed a federal lawsuit against the Van Wyck extension last November.
The rumbling is almost over, said officials of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
