There was a lot of elbow room on the subway platform of the E and V Lexington Avenue stop yesterday morning.
It was the first day that Queens-bound E and V trains skipped the Lexington Avenue/53rd Street stop between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m., implementing a two-year plan to ease congestion on the platform.
In addition, No. 6 riders at 51st Street will not be allowed to transfer to the E and V during those two hours.
It was a good plan to some passengers waiting for trains.
"It's less crowded," Syed Bildramim, 27, a computer programmer from Richmond Hill. "Normally, it's too much rush with the people and it's very difficult to get in the train."
The change was implemented after widespread public outcry about the congested platform that some say turned rush hour into crush hour.
