Hundreds turned out Friday morning in the San Fernando Valley for the opening of the Los Angeles Public Library's largest and most expensive branch - a facility that has been in the planning for nearly 30 years.
"This is truly a wonderful day because I know this community has waited a long time for this beautiful library," said Los Angeles City Councilman Hal Bernson during the opening ceremonies.
The Mid-Valley Regional Branch Library - which is also the new Valley headquarters for the library system's bookmobile service - features books, videotapes, compact discs, software in English and Spanish, reading areas for children and adults, and computers with educational software and...
