Christ Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, will dedicate its new $6.1 million sanctuary at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The first worship service in the new building, at 2323 Old Hickory Blvd., will be at 9 a.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Charles McGowan, the pastor, preaching.
The new sanctuary initially will provide seating for about 1,500 people and can be expanded to accommodate up to 2,100, a necessity the congregation expects in the near future, McGowan says.
Current membership includes 550 families.
Besides the sanctuary, the building includes a bridal parlor, several meeting rooms, administrative office space and a music rehearsal room. A separate building to be used exclusively for nursery and children's programs has been built and was put into use in September.
