The Transit Authority is unhappy with the slow pace of stateconstruction work on the Manhattan Bridge, and fears subway servicecould be knocked off the vital crossing entirely before the state finds the money and the will to complete the job, TA President David Gunn said.
"There is still a great debate going on about where the DOT is going to get the funding, and I can't get a construction schedule out of anyone," Gunn said in a recent interview.
"I'm nervous, because this bridge is a crucial link in the city's transit system, and if we lose it, we'll have to ask the entire population of Brooklyn to go on vacation. At rush hour, we just cannot move the passengers without it."
