Utah's highways will need $4.3 billion in repairs, upgrades and reconstruction during the next 20 years, state transportation officials told members of the legislature Wednesday.
That sum is the highest total for road projects UDOT officials have ever compiled. It is about double the maximum amount of federal and state funding that UDOT expects to receive during the period, said Clint Topham, engineer for planning and programming.
