Choosing five favourite eating places is monstrously hard. It's like doing Desert Island Discs - eight favourite records when you've got 300. These are not necessarily chosen because they are the finest places in the world, but because they've got very good reasons for being my favourite ones. This is not in order of 1 to 5 - they're all equal first.
1. The Bayswater Brasserie Bayswater Rd, Sydney, Australia, has the most modern, refreshing, fun, Mediterranean/Australian food going. It's not very expensive either and they have a wonderful wine list and a very casual, relaxed way of serving people.
