THE COUNTESS of Wessex faced cross-party criticism for the first time yesterday when a Tory MP joined his Labour colleagues in signing a Commons motion on the conduct of the Royal Family.
Edward Leigh, a former Conservative minister and MP for Gainsborough, was one of six MPs who supported the Early Day Motion that offers advice on how junior Royals should behave.
The motion, which was tabled by Labour MP Stephen Pound, calls for the Commons to recognise the valuable work of the Queen, the Queen Mother and Prince of Wales.
