Officials with the Northwest Suburban Boy Scout Council in Mount Prospect continue to make progress with their $4.3 million campaign to upgrade its major facilities, launched nearly 18 months ago.
At the head of their wish list is building a new dining hall at their summer camp in Wild Rose, Wis., Camp Napowan, and a new program building at their day camp facility, Camp Lakota located near Woodstock.
Another of the campaign's wish list items, building a pool and shower house at Camp Lakota, appears to be moving ahead, however.
"It's been 18 months in the making, and it's coming together," says Tim O'Neill of Arlington Heights. "It's going to happen."
Nearly two summers ago, O'Neill attended Cub Scout day camp at Lakota with his two young sons, where they went through the traditional drill: boarding a bus to drive to the nearest pool.
He thought then that the 330-acre campsite needed a pool....
