After more than 25 years of uncertainty, work is finally under way on the $20 million redevelopment of the old BNZ buildings in central Wellington.
The proposal by Australian developer Ipoh Garden involves converting the four former city council-owned buildings into an upmarket retail and office complex.
The buildings have already been stripped inside. At the weekend the footpath on the Lambton Quay side of the buildings was closed and the road narrowed in preparation for the construction team.
