Five-star hotel operator Hilton International wants to run a hotel on Wellington's waterfront, which it says would pump up to $20 million a year into the local economy.
Waterfront Investments Ltd holds a development licence for Shed One on the outer "T" of Queens Wharf. It has already floated a proposal for a low-rise hotel built within Shed One and neighbouring Shed Six which would be linked by an underground walkway.
It has received support from groups and organisations such as Waterfront Watch, Wellington Chamber of Commerce and the Te Aro Heritage Trust, Waterfront Investments directors George Middleditch and Miles Nathan said. They all expressed enthusiasm for the project.
