CONSTRUCTION of the Transmission Gully highway north of Wellington will endanger rare plants and animals and may lead to severe stream pollution, siltation and increased runoff, roading authority Transit acknowledges.
In a 200-page report assessing the environmental impact of the highway, Transit says regenerating native bush at Porirua Park and Porirua's Gillies Reserve will be destroyed for the highway.
