The Jerusalem Post Funds have contributed NIS100,000 toward a special One Family Fund which will be used to aid victims of Arab terrorism.
The fund was born through the sacrifice of a 12-year- old girl, Jerusalemite Michal Belzberg, who for a whole year had been looking forward to celebrating her bat mitzva. A week before the affair was to take place, a suicide bomber killed 15 people and wounded many more at Jerusalem's Sbarro pizzeria.
Michal's parents, businessman Marc Belzberg and his wife, Chantal, thought that under the circumstances, it would be inappropriate to hold a large-scale celebration. They decided not to spend so much on a short-lived party, but instead use the money to bring happiness to people in greater need.
The best education for Michal, they thought, was not dancing with her friends, but visiting the hospitals...
