Preparations are gearing up for a major international conference on anti-Semitism that is slated to be held next week in Montreal. Entitled "Global Dimensions of Contemporary Anti-Semitism," the conference is being organized jointly by the Quebec-Israel Committee, the Canadian Institute for Jewish Research and the Canadian Jewish Congress, and will run from March 14 to 16.
Among those scheduled to take part are authors Daniel Goldhagen and Deborah Lipstadt, Harvard University professor Ruth Wisse and Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Minister for Jerusalem and Diaspora Affairs Natan Sharansky is scheduled to deliver the opening address. The conference plans to address a number of issues, including rising anti-Semitism in Europe, Holocaust denial, Islamist anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism on college campuses.
