A WATER company was fined GBP 10,000 yesterday for pumping undrinkable black liquid into hundreds of homes.
Anglian Water's supplies were so badly contaminated with metal sediment that tap water looked like Coca-Cola.
The company, which made record profits of nearly GBP 268million last year, admitted five charges of supplying water unfit for human consumption.
Magistrates also imposed costs of GBP 5,000 for the blunder a year ago when engineers failed to spot a burst main in an Essex wood for four days.
