GERI HALLIWELL 'Look At Me' (EMI): The Artist Formerly Known As Ginger puts the Spices well and truly behind her with a song that will probably appeal to adults as well as, if not more than, the teenie market. It's a more mature, fifties-style belter inwhich Geri reveals different facets of her character. It will be interesting to see whether it's this or Boyzone that makes next week's number one spot.
BOYZONE `You Needed Me' (Polydor): Ronan and Co seem to have decided to leave all the uptempo stuff to young upstarts like Five. This cover of Anne Murray's 1978 top 30 hit ballad is so laid back it almost falls over. Sure to be massive - especially asit's already on Boyzone's forthcoming Greatest Hits album.
SKUNK ANANSIE `Secretly' (Virgin): A change of pace for Skin and her chums with a string drenched ballad that's the perfect showcase for the frontwoman's unique voice. This should give the band's album Post Orgasmic Chill a kick up the charts followingits disappointing performance so far.
CYCLEFLY `Supergod' (Radioactive): Very Skunk Anansie - but is it because the two bands share the same producer, Sylvia Massey, or Cyclefly see a market for a mouthy female backed by a barrage of heavy metal noise? Whatever, if you like Skin & Co, takea listen.
BEASTIE BOYS `Remote Control'/ `Three MCs and One DJ' (Grand Royal): They went down a storm at the NEC last week and these are two live favourites that work great in concert but lack the necessary atmosphere when played at home. You'll need to get somepals round and have a party to fully appreciate it.
CHEF `Simultaneous' (Columbia/ America): There's something of a backlash against `South Park' in the States so make the most of it while it's still around. If you thought `Chocolate Salty Balls' was a bit saucy, Isaac Hayes - Chef - pulls out all thestops in the innuendo department for the follow-up concerning a guy and er...more than one lady. 'Nuff said!
VAN MORRISON `Back on Top' (Pointblank/ Virgin): Van the Man's in ebullient mood for this, the title track from his current album. It's jazzy, it's bluesy, it sounds like a hit, especially as the back up tracks are previously unissued songs...
