OF all the pop crimes in all the world, the "collaboration" - where two stars of varying rank and circumstance get together in righteous pursuit of some unspecified musical nirvana -must surely rank as the most heinous. A combination of rank opportunism and often staggering incongruity, the collaboration is particularly noticeable for both its historical longevity and its ever potent ability to appal. Classic examples, such as Bono's version of I've Got You Under My Skin with Ol' Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra, still retain this formidable power.
