MOTORSPORT SCOTLAND'S own Scuderia Ecosse team took yet another major leap forward in the international racing scene last weekend, after Nathan Kinch and Andrew Kirkaldy battled to a hard-fought class victory in the 1000km Le Mans Endurance Series finalein Istanbul.
For the young Scots pairing and their GT2 Ferrari 360 Modena, it was the icing on the cake after a great season in which they annihilated the opposition to win the British GT Championship.
The race started in damp and gloomy conditions requiring GT2 Class pole-sitter Kirkaldy to start on intermediate tyres. The weather then deteriorated further and the switch was later made onto full wet tyres.
However, it was not only the heavy rain that put a damper on the Ecosse car's challenge, for the Ferrari's wipers packed up after the second pit stop...
