THE granddad who saved a rugby club, the PC who cleaned up a town and the kids who made a youth complex the heart of their community.
They are all in the running for a new award at the Sunday Mail's glittering Great Scot night at Glasgow's Thistle Hotel on October 29.
The Community Champions Award, the brainchild of our partners Morrisons, recognises the work of an individual or group who have made a remarkable difference to the lives of the people in their local area. Morrisons spokesman Colin Middlemiss said: "Thisaward will highlight the work carried out by amazing people to make their community a better place.
"All around us there are people, mostly unseen, who help to make our lives better. Very often we don't realise what they do and the effect that it has on others.'
CASTLEMILK Youth Complex is more than a place where bored teens play pool... it has changed lives in one of Glasgow's most deprived areas.
It took kids off the streets and stopped them being sucked into a world of crime and drugs.
The centre has been hit by a funding crisis but the 21 directors, most aged between 16 and 25, have vowed to fight...
