FEARS that the county town of North Yorkshire could be paralysed by a planned increase in rail traffic have been heightened by the results of a survey.
The exercise showed that vehicle delays caused by Northallerton's three level crossings already have a major impact on the town.
County councillors are now expected to demand an urgent report from Railtrack on both short and long-term options for reducing the delays.
