There's nothing like a celebrity or two for adding an extra sprinkle of stardust on London's theatres. When David Tennant and then Jude Law did Hamlet, it was a double portion in both instances: an A-list celebrity in a solid gold masterpiece.
Sadie Frost and Carl Barat in Sam Shepard's Fool For Love are not in the same class. Let's be brutally honest. Frost is a C-list celebrity best known for being the ex-wife of aforementioned A-lister Jude Law. Oh, and for her knickers, which she designs herself. Barat's claim to fame is as the sidekick to the notorious druggy Pete Doherty in their days with The Libertines.
Shepard's play belongs in the championship rather than premiership drama league. It's about the agony and ecstasy of incest. Eddie and his half-sister, May, discover they are related only after they've fallen in love.
