The trial involving Katie Sierra is no longer just about whether the Kanawha county teen should have been suspended from Sissonville High for her behavior after Sept. 11.
The Kanawha Circuit civil jury has also been asked to weigh the popular perception of anarchy against the version adopted by a strong-willed 15-year-old.
Sierra's lawyers rested their case against school officials Tuesday with a local educator and librarian who testified about the myths and realities surrounding anarchism.
Sierra also survived a bid to dismiss the case in mid-trial.
Judge Jim Stucky denied two defense motions to issue a "directed verdict" on her suit. But he did bar Sierra from seeking punitive damages against one of the defendants, Sissonville High...
