MOST traditional musicians write at least some of their own tunes, but a specially commissioned, 50-minute composition for an eight- strong instrumental and vocal ensemble is a rather different proposition. Especially when the composer is only 19.
That's the challenge taken up by Phamie Gow, a young clarsach player, pianist and singer from the Borders, whose first-ever extended work, Lammermuir, will be premiered at Celtic Connections this afternoon as the last of this year's New Voices festival commissions.
