A former Sissonville High School student will seek only $1 in monetary damages from a school board for upholding her suspension when she tried to start an anarchy club.
Kanawha County Circuit Court Judge James Stucky on Friday threw out several of Katie Sierra's other claims against the Kanawha County Board of Education.
Sierra, 15, sued the school board after she was suspended in October for trying to start the anarchy club and for wearing T- shirts with messages opposing U.S. military action in Afghanistan.
Her lawsuit had sought to validate her right to start the club and wear the clothing, as well as be protected from harassment at school and have her suspension wiped from her record.
